In the field of war studies, periodicals have emerged in recent decades as a crucial source for reconstructing not only the political and economic consequences of conflicts, but also their social and cultural dimensions. This analytical perspective, characteristic of “new military history,” is not the result of a haphazard evolution in the field of historiography; rather, it reflects its adaptation to new perspectives that emerged in the second half of the 20th century and have continued in recent decades. The dialogues established with social and cultural history -conceived within a broad spectrum- have shaped the development of various analytical frameworks that use concepts such as identity, gender, class, and networks to examine the phenomenon of war as a social experience.
