Abstract

In El ojo de Goliat by Diego Muzzio, war is one of the central themes. It leaves a mark that can be physical but is also psychological, where a man breaks easily and his pre-war and post-war selves split apart. In this way, war is linked in the novel to the presence of doubles, always associated with the ominous, the evil and the sinister. The narrative disperses replicas and presents numerous fictions, representations, and artifices through a structure of framed stories, led by characters like Dr. Pierce and Engineer Bradley. Their narratives are unstable and allow for questioning the boundary between reality and fiction.
