Abstract

The multiple intertwining of duplicities characterizes the creative project of Mariano Pensotti, attributable perhaps to his double artistic training as a theatrist and filmmaker, which constitutes a kind of constructive principle involving not only almost all of his plays, but also the film trilogy: El público, The Audience and Le public/Het Publiek, filmed in Buenos Aires, Athens and Brussels, respectively, between 2019 and 2022. The article analyzes how the recurrence of the theme of the double in its multiple works gives new senses to the confluence of languages in the crossing of artistic disciplines and, at the same time, explores the possibility of discussing the always attributed ephemeral character of the scenic, as the theatre, by remaining in the consciousness of the viewer, becomes as durable as other works of art.
