El disciplinamiento de los cuerpos. Cuando el castigo construye sujetos

Abstract

This paper analyzes the role that the discipline of the body plays in the training course known as “Curso Preparatorio para Agentes” (Argentine Federal Police), taking into account how these disciplinary techniques not only aim to penalize the offenses committed, but also to achieve people’s docility. The use of these disciplinary techniques in this education system allows us to think about the function they fulfill in the police institution, as well as to understand how items like sanction and “violence” play a leading role in establishing social relationships and in molding a new self.
