Abstract

Lautaro Vilo's Cáucaso (2006) focuses on the military take-over of the Dubrovka theatre in Moscow in 2002, in order to pose the impossibility of representing traumatic experience. Relying on an aesthetic that is more Brechtian than realist-illusionist, the performance reflects diverse functions of theatrical metadiscourse , imagination and theatrical production, and questions the possibility of bearing witness to an historical event.
