The Dictionary of the Language of the Cuyo and La Rioja Region (DRCuyoyLR), published in two volumes between 2020 and 2021, constitutes a lexicographic, cultural, and identity-based work that vindicates the dialects of western Argentina. From an essay perspective, its prologues are analyzed, which present a federal conception of language, removed from centralized normative models. The dictionary is part of cultural lexicography, incorporating terms and meanings based on their frequency, symbolic value, and oral or documentary origin. Through its unique design, it avoids prescription and gives voice to registers excluded by academic norms, reaffirming the right of communities to name their uniqueness. The DRCuyoyLR functions as a living linguistic archive, a support for collective memory, and a project of symbolic justice, enriched by institutional sources and local collaborations.
